It not just you that’s leaving
As we try to understand
Why you need to seek contentment
In some far off distant land
It hurts to see you discontent
Unhappy with your lot
Despite the house
The car, the pool
And everything you’ve got
So don’t ask me to be happy with the choices that you’ve had
We both know that for each of us there’s a price that must be paid
Still our wish for you is happiness
True joy and life’s contentment
Just know you leave here with our love
We harbor no resentment
But
Don’t ask me to be happy
Not now not at this time
Just make a little space
Between your heart and mine
Because
It’s not just you that’s leaving
So try to understand
You take a living part of us too that
Far off distant land
