It's Now 2024 Poem by Randy McClave

It's Now 2024

It is now 2024
On 2023 I have closed the door,
It's now just memories of that past time
Unto them I had sang Auld Lang Syne.
That time was seemingly a long time ago
It went away when a new January wind did blow,
And now as a brand new year does start
I will also being with a new attitude and a brand new heart.
I remember my friends from last year
But, not from one of them do I still hear,
I guess when 2023 had left
They too went with the wind and my bereft.
I will forget all the lies and the pain and sorrow
Those are now in my tomorrow,
I guess that was a very good thing
When on New Year's I heard the bells ring.
I remember what I was put through
I remember the lies and the broken promises too,
Then on New Years I was thinking and contemplating
While for good cheer I was anxiously waiting.
Then when I saw the ball falling
In my ear I then heard a whisper as if a calling,
Then with concern I heard someone say
I'll be renewing my pain if I forget about my yesterday.
I remember all the promises I kept and the good deeds done
I remember helping others and the errands I did run,
Then I remembered of what I never received
Reminding me on how I was used and lied to and deceived.
No broken promises or hurt from last year am I going to allow in
As this New Year for me does slowly begin.
I'm starting a brand New Year without worries from her or him
I'm starting 2024 without none of them.
