It's Part Of The Course Poem by Mark Heathcote

It's Part Of The Course

When a willow breaks in the storm, it makes new roots.
I am warming my hands in yours
I am a moon trembling after midnight
it's part of the course
praying for the sun, wishing away the chill snow
praying for you, my first love,
since, since I don't know when.

Oh, I see orange blossoms dancing tonight
and all I want to do
is catch the stars, the dew, their arc hue blue light
hold your hand until the sunlight
till the nave of my chest fills with life, amen.
Ooh, it's part of the course to love again and drown.
Guided by a hand that never leaves your side.
