Jacob Wrestles Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Jacob Wrestles

Coyote desert spins inwardness
Ramparts of seeing the base
Lions saunter like flames
Every vision weighed in fire
Masters of solitude rule
Brilliant stars from time
Essentials rise like hope
Golden gates of soul
Stripped by piranhas of self
Selfishness is punishment

The night howls like a wolf
Self-reflection sees everyman
Tremolos poets in golden sand
Forgiveness is an oasis
Vultures dwell in bitterness
Jackals live off carcasses
Water of love sighs
Rivers of the soul flow
Dreams bright as angels
Jacob wrestles in the night
