Jeune Mariee. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Jeune Mariee. (Translation) .

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A young bride has taken her own life probably because of some disappointment in love. She sought relief in Death. Death and suicide
occur quite often in Hughes' poems, which show vulnerable characters at the end of their tether. These poems are not maudlin or over-exaggerated. Hughes is showing the dark but true side of modern life here. His tone is restrained, not sensational.
