Jonathan - Poem by Ima Ryma
Twenty sixteen - Jonathan is
One hundred eighty years old,
A tortoise in the old age biz -
Oldest animal, we are told.
Living on a British owned isle
In the South Atlantic Ocean.
He greets all humans with a smile,
Being quite a sociable one.
500 pounds, including shell,
On a diet of veggie/fruit,
Jonathan's health is doing well.
Perhaps humans should follow suit.
Living the longest - in first place,
This tortoise is winning the race.
