just how corrupt are the Republicans in Florida,
Ron DeSantis, Rick Scott, and the Florida legislators
the sun beats down on the swamp,
but the real gators wear suits.
they smile like televangelists,
pockets fat, hands dirty,
telling you it's all for freedom
while they sell the state piece by piece.
there's DeSantis, slick as an oil spill,
banning books, banning history,
banning anything that makes him nervous—
which is most things.
but there's always time
for tax breaks for billionaires
and flights for migrants
who never asked for a trip.
Rick Scott, a man with a past,
a Medicare scandal too big to drown,
but in Florida, that's just good business.
he grins like a man who's already won—
because he has.
the money always flows up.
that's the trick.
and the legislators?
oh, they move like shadows,
signing bills with hands outstretched,
gutting the land, gutting the poor,
turning the state into a showroom
for the highest bidder.
but the tourists come,
the drinks stay cold,
and the news plays along—
so the people shrug,
look at the ocean,
and pretend it's all fine.
