Just Me Poem by David Olughu

Just Me

Silent silence
interrupted occasionally by my raging heartbeat
My mind,
a playground for angels and demons;
like a ballroom with bright candles and dim ones. My soul,
yearning for liberty from this fleshy prison.
filled with screeching wails people call thoughts and fantasies called ideas
My body,
battered blue-black beyond beastly beating
in a quest to numb myself from the pain and torture of the voices in my head;
voices unheard,
voices I dread.
An escape route out of my abyss being inconceivable,
I hope in the Almighty
As I await the invasion of His light
I wrestle my demons in this territorial fight
This is just me.
