Just The Same Timmy Connors Poem by Francis Duggan

Just The Same Timmy Connors

Just the same Timmy Connors relaxed and so serene
Enjoying his eightieth birthday the wise one of Dooneen
With his wife Mary and their two grand-daughters on the Millstreet Town web site
A man with heaps of wisdom and not lacking on insight.

Just the same Timmy Connors he is not showing his age
One who never does seem worried a quietly spoken sage
When i was a Primary school going boy he was in his life's prime
Back there in the late fifties and that's going back in time.

Years later with Clem Kelleher, Jimmy Cronin, Dan Carroll and Jimmy Sullivan in the Holiday House us he did entertain
We laughed at his subtle humor and insights from him did gain
And though the past has gone forever we cannot bring back the past
We love to recall our happy memories and our happy memories seem to last.

With the passing of the decades he may seem a bit more gray
But he does look hale and hearty on his eightieth birthday
We laughed at his wit and marveled at his wisdom so much he seemed to know
In Millstreet Town in Jimmy Cronin's shop some twenty years ago.
