Kalpantha Poem by Bisy Untan

Kalpantha

Downpour!
The sky itself is falling down
With the clatter of thunder and lightning!
The overflowing river is engulfing the land,
Not one, two or three,
All the rivers of the Earth
Migrated on and on to the land
To dissolve one with the Ocean.

Where are the rivers?
Where is the land?
Where is the Ocean?
Only a globe of Water!

All the greenery of the land,
All the fruits and flowers,
All the dreams of seven colors,
Disappear into the water down

A globe of water!
It's still moving fast
Along the unchangeable path
Destined to move around.

The stars of fire going around,
Fall one by one down to the Water!

A globe of fire!
It's still moving fast
Along the unchangeable path
Destined to move around!

A thousand splendid suns
Stretches the arms forward
To receive it to it's bosom
To keep it for another Birth!

The flood we experienced aroused the thought of kalpantha in me. Kalpantha is an idea linked with creation, maintenance and destruction as per the Hindu mythology.
