Kentucky Poem by Randy McClave

Kentucky

When I look down upon the valley
Admiring the wonder and the beauty below,
I am taken in and awestruck by nature
Then, for a second, I see what God does know.
Beauty it is everywhere
As I look both to my left and then to my right,
God had splashed a rainbow against a canvas
Then I see the white stars at night.

They say that when God created the earth
The first tear that he cried was out of pride,
It fell down upon his new creation
Beauty was seen for the first time in all that he eyed.
He then created the mountains and the rivers
Then the grass upon which he would walk,
He then placed the trees and all of the flowers
All gardeners enjoys praises, when others talk.

God, they say then splashed out all of the colors
As though arranging flowers in a vase,
A little beauty here, and a little wonder over there
But, most landed in just one place.
Now when God comes to reminisce his great works
When with its beauty he wants to recommit,
God, they say always comes to Kentucky first
That is where he enjoys to stay and to re-visit.
