Key Poem by Charlene Chan

Key

Isn't it too late?
Maybe this is our fate.
Our two hands can mend many things
but the blemish remains.

Remember our past?
That question you've always asked?
Why do time pass so terribly fast?
Why must our loved ones leave at last?

Oh, No! Please do not cry. For him you mustn't cry.
Let go him and the memories of the past
to free your heart.
There is no need to fear,
cos I'll drive out the dark,
I promise, I'll hold you tight in my arms
til the day we part.

All the memories
aren't washed away by your tears.
All you need now should be a kiss
to dry the teardrops on your cheeks.

Baby, give it to me,
that rusted golden key.
Let me be the first to open the door
and heal your sore.
Why not give me your key
to remove our boundary?
If a bridge can close the gap between you and me,
why no bridge I see?

Hope is needed to keep me ahead,
But why can't I see any hope ahead?
I couldn't step back, I couldn't step back!
I am not mad but I know I couldn't step back!

Maybe I don't have luck,
But how strong is my love!
I can sacrifice everything for you, my only love.
So, promise me, my dear, don't hide your key from me.
You wouldn't know if I'm your destined one,
til the lock's opened.
