Khalil Gibran: Once I Said To A Poet In Hindi/Urdu Translation

main ne ek baar kisi kavi ko kaha:
tumhari maut se pehlay
kya kehtay ho tum
koi na samaj paaey ga.
Vo bola: haaN, maut kuch bhi
chuppa kar nahin rakhti hai
koi samaj paaey ga to ho gi ye wajah -
mere dil main jo hai vo zubaan pe nahin hai
aur jo meri chahtaiN hain, hathoN main nahin hain

***

Once I said to a poet:
Until you die
No one will know your worth.
"Yes, death is the revealr, said he
And if you'd know my worth
it'd be as I've more in my heart
than on my tongue, and more in my desire
than in my hand."

***

Once I said to a poet, "We shall not know your worth until you die."
And he answered saying, "Yes, death is always the revealer. And if indeed you would know my worth it is that I have more in my heart than upon my tongue, and more in my desire than in my hand."
