Knox Lake Poem by Miranda Weller

Time is divided in two parts, before this and after this. The events in which leads up to this are secure, but are not stable. It all began on a hot August day. The trees have just started to cry out colors, fearing the winter months ahead. Days have started to lose more and more sun. Yet the breeze of the day is found most relaxing. Taking a walk to the lake is defiantly in store. Such a wonderful season, a beautiful time to explore the world. Although I have not really experienced other countries, nor have I have lived anywhere else I have found Ohio to hold the most beauty. Vines growing up the sides of old barns and houses. Farm land that bear the richest soils. Horses that graze in pastures, ponds that are fed by the springs. Vivid green colors blanketing the ground. Wild flowers that grow in random patches. Warm days and cool nights, fresh air fulfilling your lungs. Can you truly imagine a place this peaceful? No New York City, no stretching lands of Texas. No mountains of Virginia or the oceans of the Carolina's. You will see no gateway to the west here, no sunset strip and no miles of sand. The saying; 'There is no place like home', holds true in this case. Just as another day I am headed off to the lake. It's a sweet escape, a ground of serenity. The sun shining across the water like diamonds. The lake is completely surrounded by woods, except for a few private boat docks and on the west side of the lake there is a boat dock and rental. To the east side of the lake there is a spillway that falls into a stream. It's a comforting place to get away and feel completely free of everything. Though sometimes it can be lonely it is a place that holds a lot of memories, and the landscape is perfect for picture taking. Sometimes I like to go there and by using things I find, I will build a small boat. It is wonderful how creative the mind can become. There are going to be more key points in my life that will occur here.
