La Societe. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

La Societe. (Translation) .

La position de la famille declinait,
Et a cause de ceci la petite Aurelie,
Qui avait continue a rire pendant dix-huit etes,
Soutient maintenant le contact paralysie de Philippus.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
See Poem Hunter/ Ezra Pound/ 179/250, to read in English.
Aurelia is a victim figure of an arranged marriage by her parents to a man who may be wealthy, but has palsy. Aurelia's laughter is now gone, as she is unhappy. Arranged marriages still happen in some cultures, and I think it is an unacceptable custom in the modern world.
