Lady Diana...Are You Dreaming. Poem by Jeff Stoddart

Lady Diana...Are You Dreaming.

Rating: 4.5

Lady Diana are you dreaming, all our tears belong to you
Now the time we shared together has all gone
The love affair which started so many years ago
You came into our lives lost and alone.

We followed closely ups, and downs, drama, tantrums, tears
You grew in stature confident, as months rolled into years
Through all the changing scenes of life, you touched a million hearts
A princess of the people, Lady of many parts.

Why do we love you, who can say, perhaps in you we see
An image of the person we all would like to be
The world we live in we all know is shallow, cold, and grey
With greed and filth, and avarice worsening day by day.

Yet through all that you gave us hope, when hopelessness returned
And through your selfless actions the heart within us yearned
To wipe away your tears of pain, and kiss away your grief
How could we know for you, that there would be no swift relief?

Now princess we know your worth, your work on earth is done
And tens of million people grieve, so many can't be wrong
In death you win the biggest prize, Lady of many parts
May your God grant you perfect peace....Queen of all our hearts.

Hey Jeff, this is a lovely, very well-written tribute. Funny how we still call her Lady Diana even though she was a princess from the time she got married. Remember that song...?
