Lady In Satin Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Lady In Satin

Rating: 5.0

Tut! Tut!
Takes to bed.

Cries. Both
night & day.

listening to
Billie Holiday

explain
in broken tones:

“You don’t know what
Love is”

First great love lost.
His mother laughs.

“You’ll get over it! ”

He cries
because he knows
he won’t.

He cries
because he knows

in time he
will.

The pain an invisible
scar

he will always
bear

Love

written with water

upon water.
