Lake Urmia Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Lake Urmia

Lake Urmia

Knowing is very hard
-wish I was piece of rock
-silently sat in wall…

I could be full of eyes
-don't tell me I could not
-we do not know the rock!

Whatever we claim
-is based on our knowledge
-which, in fact, is not much…

Set aside the claims
-and bluffs of mankind:
- "We are the mastermind and know much…"

No, no, no
-we do not!

My knowledge, awareness
-which sure is limited
-comes from, either age or trips, passages
-crossing the borders, the cities, villages
-countries and nations
-and genders, and cultures, and ages…

Wish I too
-like many
-knew not of the Ur.
-This city is great
-has roots in history; lives today.

Ur is not Hebrew, nor is Jewish
-means: "Water, "
-in ancient Assyrian-Language.

My people in Iran
- (most of them, if not all)
-know not why our lake is: "Urmia"
- (If is red, is from blood of Assyrians…)
-Proudly Iran is holder of DNA! Assyrian! ! !
