'Lamb Of God' Poem by Trevor Valentine

'Lamb Of God'

'Lamb of God'
by Valentine

So you've seen the lamb of God, my friend
The ever spinning shades of green
Children, they come by to see
The visions that you've seen

And don't it always seem amiss
When the people come by and they can't resist
to wave their cameras to the big blue sky
Tryin' to get a picture of a suicide?

The dragging nets are flying
The people stop their cars and stare
They wonder why I'm crying
'Come see a falling star'

Bristling meadows, not the city walls
I'll escape them all, you see
I've had my fill of the factory smells
And life's obscenities

And don't it always seem a gas
When the people come by and they start to ask
'Why walk so long and fall to far
You're mad, you're done
Whoever you are...'

Lamb of god, I'm flying
I'm freer than a robin, see
I love you in your glory
And I give my soul to thee

So you've seen the lamb of God, my friend
The ever spinning shades of green
Children, they come by to see
The visions that you've seen
