Lament Like A Virgin Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Lament Like A Virgin

Weep on drunkards! !
Lament like a virgin clothed with sackcloth;
For the husband of her youth,
Who just died! !
As the earth fades away.

Drunkards!
The earth will quake and the heavens will tremble,
Because of your sins;
The sun and the moon will be darkened! !
And the stars will stop shining.

Weep!
Oh earth,
For the sins of mankind;
Blood, fire and the pillars of smoke! !
With the muse of hatred and war.
