Late Afternoon [3] Poem by Gert Strydom

Late Afternoon [3]

It's surprising how bright
the colours of the sunset is tonight,
like a painting
with magic colours against the wall
and it's the time just before twilight
when the light
does kiss the earth the last time
before it does disappear before the darkness
and the moon and evening star are already out.

In my heart there is pain,
the pain of old lost love
that is still searching for meaning
and in the studio you do probably sit
before a canvas
and I do wonder what you are painting
when the day does come to an end.
