Laura

From Latin for laurel, lauris, is Laura,
but there are hints of an ear and dawn,
of gold and especially breeze:
auris et aurora, aurum et aura.

From the last of these
you might hear a whisper,
'You can call me Dawn, okay,
but as it's never as nice as dawn,
never call me Day

'and unless you're absolutely crazy,
never ever ever call me Daisy.'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
thinking why 'Day' is not a girl's name.
