Laura Poem by Francis Duggan

Laura

When Laura talks of her deceased husband Trevor she always does burst into tears
Though he is not fresh in his grave now since he has been dead for four years
And though only in her early fifties faithful to his memory she'll remain
She only loved once she will tell you and she will never love again.

They were blessed with a son and two daughters Trevor was the great love of her life
When she lost him she lost her soul mate he left behind a shattered wife
Her son and daughters now father and mothers but Laura she lives on her own
And though it is said that time is the healer her grief she has not yet outgrown.

They were devoted to each other in him she had found her soul mate
But he was diagnosed with cancer when he had just turned forty eight
For ten months he was made to suffer his end it was painful and slow
She nursed him till the reaper claimed him around this time four years ago.

A widow in her early fifties and burdened by her heavy cross
She still misses her deceased husband to her he was such a great loss
In life devoted to each other in love from the moment they met
And him she will always remember and him she will never forget.
