Lauren's Tears Poem by Randy McClave

Lauren's Tears

Again I see Lauren drinking
As she talks about her broken heart,
At me she is just smiling and winking
Happily seeing not one teardrop began to start.
She told me how she had been cheating on
And how she had been physically and emotionally abused,
By the man who she believed to be the one
Now her soul and her body are both bruised.
She told her parents once many years ago
How a friend close to her had cheated and lied,
Unto her she thought that was such a deadly blow
So, at her home she just sat alone and cried.
She then told me about her life
And all about her countless teardrops,
She then told me about her worries and her strife
Which arrives and seemingly sometimes never stops.
Then she said calmly and honestly to me
That she hopes to never cry no more,
Because, when she does she can't think or even see
As the teardrops down her cheeks pour.
She then told me about their salty taste
When she looked and replied to me and her peers,
Tasting that pain and sorrow is such a waste
Now alcohol she said, tastes much better than tears.
