Lavished With Applause Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Lavished With Applause

Today...
In these ever changing.
Inflicting diseasing epidemic days.
Not even the likes of Shakespeare,
Would find the words to depict...
Whether cynical or sarcastically picked,
To stage.
Without leaving the audience,
Feeling offended, shocked and amazed.
About the possibilities...
Of the characters backstage,
Who are more dispicable.
Than the ones chosen to perform.
With a doing as best as Shakespeare could,
Attempt to portray reality.
As effectively to not completely destroy,
Those with protected and kept delusions.

However...
In these ever changing,
Truth to face as it is times.
There is no Shakespeare.
Although there are many,
Who could 'be' and should 'be'...
Held accountable for their actions.
But won't or will not,
Take that responsibility.
Yet...
Will come forward.
Stand in the blazing of a hot spotlight.
To expect to get,
Praise and lavished with applause.
For mentioned attempts to end,
Conflicts, confusion and division caused.
To claim without their sought recommendations,
With patience, tolerance and empathy to give...
Could never have happened!

"I can not believe you are listening to this.
With tears in your eyes."

-I can't believe,
You are incapable...
To let your cynical sarcastic remarks go.
And...
Under such dire circumstances,
This great leader has come to face.-
