Law – Citizen’s Juries Poem by Paul Warren

Law – Citizen’s Juries

It seems lately the buzz words are
If you have a problem that may bar
Someone’s love of life or pursuit of happiness
Announce a Citizen’s Jury to clean up the mess

In theory the way is quite clear
For all to contribute without any fear
But in practice all that you get
Are groups of self-interest with lips that are wet

These people attend meetings to have their say
And ensure in the report they have their way
So what you get in the end for us all
Is law or procedure which seems a bad call
