Lead Balloons Poem by Mark Heathcote

Lead Balloons

What opposes me now?
Is an angel without love?
Who answers to no fool on this earth?
Who I'd walk out of the shadows to discover
Who I'd -blubber to kiss on her lips
Without thinking with a broken heart
To discover I've still got a soul to ascertain
Where it should be led and by whom.
What favours the brave simply is loving you.
And -catching at times an awful lot of lead balloons.
