Learning New Words While Reading Books Is A Pleasure

Learning new words while reading books is a pleasure
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
This poem is for a pleasure seeker
An epicurean who would like to taste the hedonistic pleasures also
O. Henry's 100 Selected Stories spoke of the heroine's "pepsin chewing of gum
Between blasts" and nothing as serious as bomb blasts as epictetian;

And the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy says that this is stoicism
Propounded by Epitectus, a Greek philosopher,
But I also came upon a word, cloverdalian,
And even the internet did not have the meaning for this word;

But PeaceArchNews said that a cloverdalian belonged to Cloverdale
And for the purpose of the 1964 report, Cloverdale was decided to be
Between 164 Street to the west,186 Street to the east,64 Avenue to the north
And Colebrook Road to the south;

And really being an etymologist, I could say that a cloverdalian is a lucky person
For he or she is in a valley of clovers
And to find one clover is to be blessed with good fortune
But to be a cloverdalian is simply the best;

I had a piece of merchandise, embroidery needles, come from
Faraway Street in Pennsylvania from a John
When I was expecting straw needles to make bullion stitches
Which I had ordered from amazon.ca;

It did cost me only $29 with shipping and handling but I
Imagine that the bullion stitches taught to me by Pinterest
Is going to be fun to make and this is both the epictetian way of thought
For a cloverdalian for what could be more enjoyable than making bullion stitches
On cross stitch cloth to make a bed of flowers;

Stuff this down your hats, you McGill University scholars
For University of Toronto boasts of the finest graduates
And despite ex-PM Paul Martin having had a law degree from U of T
It cannot claim to having hosted the current Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau,
In its history making classrooms;

I am the only student to have both an M.Eng and an M.A.Sc in Chemical Engineering
From U of Toronto with fellowships and the epictetian in me says
That the cloverdalian in me has to find a four leaf clover in work rewards
But I say that the maple leaf is like a three leaf clover
And I shall see where it takes me on the path to fame and fortune.
