Leaving Poem by Cassie Cooper

Leaving

Rating: 5.0

Go on, their eyes tell me, leave,
You don't belong here, not anymore
You're not one of us, not anymore
Not ever

I watch you one last time
You don't notice me, per the usual
Too many others claiming your eyes, your smile, your laugh
I trace your face with my memory one last time
Goodbye, my heart whispers
A sad, soft farewell that
No one hears.
