Leeah Poem by Loraine Lotter

Leeah

Rating: 4.5

Tiger stripes on her legs, glitter clips on her head,
she wanders purposely over the terrace.
One shoe gripped in her hand, the other left in the sand,
and she couldn’t care less.

Peculiar and poles apart, pepper stains on her heart,
she watches as the waves pull her toes.
Pencil stuck behind her ear, paper planes everywhere,
like they already know.

Yearning to feel the rush, crimson lips soft and plush,
her fingers entwined in a knot.
Dreaming of mummy tombs, floating with big balloons,
floating, now what are the odds?

Spiral dots on the knees, embellished with honeybees,
she traces down strange sugar drops.
Leaving a tinge of gold, squandering what she’s told,
pursuing till she finally stops.

Lips twisted in a smile, says “Sorry I took a while,
sorry, I had to make do.
But don’t even dwell on it, just say to hell with it,
now come on, let’s head for the moon.”
