Lenten Poems: Good Friday ©

Grey skies are dull and downcast,
The trees have lost their sway;
The tempestous sea is all aghast,
Flowers turn their heads away.

Who told the birds to stop their song?
Who asked the whispering wind to wail
a dirge of mourning to prolong
the test that man was bound to fail.

The air is heavy with despair,
Time has stopped, it's standing still;
as if in heartfelt, fervent prayer,
all according to His will.

For today He died to save my soul;
To heal our hearts and make us whole.
