Les Danseuses. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Les Danseuses. (Translation) .

En volant de la nuit
Quelques
Heures desesperees
De plaisir.

En volant de la mort
Quelques
Jours desesperes
De la vie.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Only a short lyric poem but full of meaning and pathos. The dancers steal a few hours of pleasure from the night: they also steal a few hours desperate days of life from death. A simple poem with depth of meaning. No real rhyme scheme but 'A few' is used effectively as a refrain.
'Dancers' is an example of 'Less is more'.
