Les Informations. (Translation) .

Quelques survivants courent a l'abri.

*

Chaque soir a six heures nous allons tous en direct a la mort.
il y a quelqu'un sur place
pour m'aider a me tenir l'haleine.

*
Si jepouvais seulement m'ecrier
a mon amante distante, distraite...

*

ou si vous ne pouvais que m'aimer
oh Monde sur lequel je marche.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
He is writing about watching the six o'clock television news on channel one or channel three in New Zealand. A very large number of people watch the news: I have hardly ever met anyone who did not. Similar things tend to happen in the world, like survivors running for cover. In irony, he talks of someone on the spot to help him hold his breath. He thinks of his distant lover and wishes that the World would love him, the world he is walking over.
He has a detached attitude towards television news. I have not seen television news for many years and don't think I have missed anything.
