Lesson By Rhyme

In French, a girl is une poulette.
Une fille you can also say.
A little chicken is une poulet.
A little girl is une fillette.
She is not une poulettette.

A rooster's un coq.
A hen's une poule.
Un cornichon's a fool.
Une chaussette is a sock.
Une chaussure is a shoe.
Une fillette is a half-bottle too.

A fussy mother is une poule mère.
An octopus is un poulpe.
Une poulailler is a chicken coop.
A brood-mare is une poulinière.
Moreover, besides and to boot is d'ailleurs.
A cornichon is a gherkin too.
Un salaud is a swine and a cur.
