Lessons Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Lessons

No one from birth lives immuned,
From mistakes to make.
Or lessons to learn.
In the hopes from them to escape.
It takes a growing to accept,
This as a process of life.
As one crawls to make those first steps.
Made to make,
Until one feels comfortable...
To stand up and walk tall.
Done to sometimes fall to the left.
Or to the right.
And this attempt to stay balanced,
Continues throughout our lives.
In the hopes the decisions we make,
Are best for us to prevent disappointments.
And distressing heartbreaks.
With eyes, arms, legs and fingers crossed.
As God eventually teaches those faithful,
Who is in command and is 'The Boss'.

However...
There are lessons that come for some,
Seldom are learned overnight.
Then there are those same lessons,
For others that come...
They will never learned them done.
With a remaining on their knees,
Pleading to the 'Teacher'....
What it is they should do,
To remove themselves from confusion.
And conflicts they have begun.
With it to expect a forgiveness to come.
But will not sit,
To learn a lesson.
Of how to prevent themselves,
From being involved in the first place.
With it done to solve,
Their own issues and problems.
For themselves they repeatedly create.
