Let Me Ask Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Let Me Ask

I went to Sunday school
In Kitwe, Chimwemwe, Zambia
In the early seventies hiding from war in Rhodesia too
Sunday school was cool with correct ambiance

My favoutite hymn was "Akoni pachi muti kaleimba...."
Played to the African beat of marimba
The other was "Zakeo ali umuntu uwaipipisha..."
I still play the melody on my Huwaei PP cell.

At varsity i was trained to never accept a status quo
To query every occurence till the status you know
"A body remains in it's state of rest until another impinges on it"
This universal law to every situation will fit.

The theory of economic order quantity
The importance of first in last out in production quality
The last truism i learned is that of scientific inquiry
Ask if the task is fit for purpose and why certain people work in a quarry

Let me ask
Why i should wear a mask?
Why this is?
Why that isn't?

My last lecture
Was never to accept conjecture
Anything in disequillibrium
I ask why ad nauseum

Let me ask
Let me ask
Let me ask
Please brother man let me ask
