Let Me Go Poem by Israh Sadan

Let Me Go

Rating: 3.0

I have heard that the balance of power
lies with the one who cares less.
Foolishly I tried to claim
some of that power
by pretending to care less.
So I became cold,
tried to protect my heart
by packing it tight with ice.
But a frozen heart is a heavy burden.
The frozen lump in my throat
forever threatening to make me cry.
And every time you touch me
I begin to thaw.
But I know that the warmth
of your touch burns
far worse than the biting cold of my heart.
So I beg you please don't love me
Don't make me love you.
Let me go.
