Let Them Not Poem by Arnab Das

Let Them Not

Let them not write your name on the sad skies,
For the clouds are but the mercenaries of night;
Resist, resist the closing of the eyes.

Though our skin is but playground forthe flies,
Our flesh but dust, now sumptuous and tight
Let them not write your name on the sad skies.

I know you can still hear the opulent wind rise,
And yellow smoke obliterates our sight,
Resist, resist the closing of the eyes.

Though we know its late to repent our vice,
Like sad Sisyphus crying at this great height;
Let them not write your name on the sad skies.

And life shall proliferate like colonies of mice,
Sun shall shine again, abundant and bright,
Resist, resist the closing of the eyes.

Then against the shadow soldiers' war cries,
We shall regroup and put up a hard fight,
Let them not write your name on the sad skies;
Resist, resist the closing of the eyes.
