Letter Never Sent Poem by Malabika Ray Choudhury

Letter Never Sent

Rating: 5.0

This is a letter, a real message,
not a poem! but never delivered!

a letter, which was written long long time ago, when a fourteen-year old looked at the fascinating world with dreamy eyes,
but was never sent!

I found it in a small diary I used to write
the little things I enjoyed most,
or did not enjoy!
in between completing assignments, or copying
materials from the library.
a young girl's hopes and dreams,
wishes, and cries,
scribing some special names with dainty hand.

The letter was to someone I didn't write ever before,
or ever after,
the letter was to someone who, quietly handed me books - a tender gesture - knowing I was a bookworm,
the letter was for someone who never told me I was pretty, but his eyes brightened with admiration,
and nevertheless I wrote a letter to him, and hid it in my diary.

I opened it today.
it said, ' I wait for you every day'.
and that's all!

I had spent years, in my youth, waiting for someone day after day, who never came. I relate to the sentiments expressed in this poem. A fine poem ma'am. Thanks for sharing.

Did you let her know that you were waiting? So good to share and relate to one with such a romantic, poetic heart! Did you read some of our poet-friend, Banamala Sen's poems? Her poems are touching!
