Letting Go. Poem by dave lessard

Letting Go.

Please don't dwell upon the past
it will only bring you down;
forget the pain, forget the sorrow
there's a new love to be found.
Set aside the excess baggage
eradicate the things you must;
all that glitters is not gold
all that glitter's turned to dust.
There is only now, the present
seize the moment and the day;
find a love that you can cherish
and let the other slip away.
Old memories will fade and die
the old visons fade from view;
the love that's gone is dying
from the hold that once you knew.
So bid adieu unto its clinging
there is nothing there my friend;
shed yourself - of its grasp
as you mourn its final end.
