Life Cycles Poem by dave lessard

Life Cycles

Rating: 5.0

Rain comes fast and furious
pounding desert ground
flowers that were wilted
new life - they have found.
I watch the wind bend willows
the gully fills with water
now the air gets cooler
yesterday was hotter.
119 days have passed
in Phoenix, with no rain
the monsoon gives us dust
along with sudden showers
and more to come we trust.
It's a different way of life
the quirks of western living
the brutal summer sun
is sometimes not forgiving.
It's a cycle, just like life
the good years and the bad
refreshing times of seasons
and mourning what we had.
