Life - Poem by pleasefind this

I awoke that morning with love just in sight.
I knew of the troubles you faced at night.

As we left our home and our joyful dreams.
I was faced with reality of an ill fated scheme.

We made our way to the walls with light.
We both knew it was a perilous fight.

I wasn't frightened or fearful of terrible things.
I knew in my heart you'd become an angel with wings.

Go on to sleep I said with a sigh.
I will miss you deeply this is not goodbye.

As the resting night had came to an end.
I knew I had lost my closest friend.

I now wish to go and leave you with this.
You will always be cherished and so dearly missed.

p.s

Don't worry about falling asleep.
I had a really great time.
I was content when I left.
Thank You.

Well articulated and nicely encapsulated piece of poetry, subtly penned from the heart with good rhyme scheme. I like the spiritual insight of the poem and the display of fortitude, despite the irreplaceable loss. Thanks for sharing poet. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON. (Report) Reply
