Life Is Death Poem by Elton Dean

Life Is Death

The air tonight is cold and will not allow the mist to settle,
So it looms mid-air frozen in chains.
The snow has fallen and sits undisturbed waiting to erode,
But it will turn to ice to take my balance before it’s done.

The street is hallow with no one breaking the cold silence,
Even the street light shivers as it stands.
For I am alone but in the company of loneliness,
For I am the star that will forever rotate and never change course.

My heart is dying with the pain of much wanted love,
My hands are growing too old to feel the warmth of another,
My eyes fail to see the truth before me,
My mind is losing the battle with conscience.

Dreams no longer dictate happiness but are there to taunt me,
Hope fades with the winds that die.
Beliefs are to be questioned in the time that passes,
Life is death without its purpose.
