I saw this picture, way back in time
But somehow, somewhere, it stayed on my mind
A photographer had clicked a pair
Of two birds sitting together
Content with being life-partners.
Why this difference exists, I wondered
Between us humans and them birds
While they stay together for rest of their life
We often prefer, the neighbors husband, or wife.
Is it because, while they spend their time
Looking for food n building their nest
We spend it
In thinking way too much
Is it because, while they respect the fact that they are free
We take our lack of freedom
Way too seriously
Or is it their short life-spans
That make them revere their time on earth
While we take our high
Life-expectancy for granted.
How I wish, we were like those love-birds, you n me
But sometimes, things change, you see
We too were soul-mates...but that was long ago
As it is, it always takes two to tango.
I am not sure whether, me n my partner
Are made for each other
But that picture of two birds
Will surely, stay in my mind, forever.
