Why do we love someone
Have you ever thought of that
We do when we get something in return
So why couldn't you keep loving me back
I loved you because you loved me
Here I am being honest
I adored you n worshipped you
Because you gave me much respect
Then things happened
Life started taking its twists n turns
I kept loving you
But you stopped loving in return
Once you said you never did
That was just my assumption
I still have those letters
That prove your long lost conviction
I wanted to burn the whole lot
But something made me stop
Keeping my rage aside
I put them in the loft
When I am in my 80s
Looking back at life
I might like to go through them
A bittersweet mix of angst n delight

I never wanted to write mushy (love) poems
But then I wrote one in my head
I liked it so much, I said...
What the hell...And then I picked up the pen.
We love because the divine function of the heart is to love. I like the insight and articulation of the poem. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
