Illusion Poem by Jiya Mili

Illusion

Rating: 4.8

When you proclaimed your love for me
Maybe you meant it seriously
You thought you knew who I was
But that was an illusion you had got.

You said you are my fan
You love me more than I know
One day you would look through me
This we both didn't foresee.

We like to believe in a possibility
That gladdens our souls
Losing focus of the reality
That we could be square pegs in round holes.

Alas! life is not what it seems
It has plenty of catches n mismatches
Certainly not the stuff
That makes our day dreams.

So the next time you fall in love
Do remember what I said
Neither she is real, nor you
It's just all in our heads.

It has taken me a life-time
To figure out this illusion
Even though you were long gone
I too, have finally moved on.
