Life Well Lived Poem by Ryan Leonard

Life Well Lived

The snow is soft and the mountains high.
I climb with my newly met brothers into the sky.
So high are we, a whole world lies below us.
The skis are heavy, its my cross to bear.
A long hike but proudly I press on through Gods greatest gifts.
Three feet of fresh above the crest forces me onward
I have no choice but to pause atop the summit
Such beauty is seldom found
And once this heave is reached I shall plunge back to earth.
Dancing with gravity along the rocky chute
Pillars of stone shaped in the first seven days define the prefect run
So Into the chaos I reveal, each turn a Kairos in itself
Falling with grace and dignity, my labors are undone
The great shadow eclipse me yet again
All altitude lost in the furious decent.
Back at the base I stand
Looking up with bewilderment at the glorious earth works
And the tracks I’ve left carved into an icy face begin to melt
Tis a life well lived
