I gently stretched out my hand to her,
She softly held the outstretched hand;
Then she clenched her fist, slowly and confidently,
And took my hand in her grip, tightly.
That was the beginning.
I gave her a house, she gave me a home.
I stood beside her steadfastly,
She gave me an ever growing family.
Nestlings arrived, and they needed care.
She gave them food and motherly affection,
I gave them mental and spiritual strength,
By promptly providing wherever they needed attention.
There have been ups and downs
In our journey for more than forty three years;
There were good and bad times,
But we kept moving on, with smiles and tears.
The nestlings grew in strength by and by,
They took their flights, each on his own sky.
Mistakenly we thought that our ‘duty was done',
And reluctantly, we moved back to circle one.
As empty-nesters, we now move around,
And pass our time in the company of friends.
To forget the growing emptiness for sometime,
We move to places with like-minded peers.
We move individually and we move in groups,
We make new friends and find new loops.
We are grateful to each and everyone,
Who touched our lives with kindness and fun.
