Light's Reply Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Light's Reply

And light replied,
Why, of course, I have a voice,
Have you never seen a rainbow?
That is me singing in harmony.

Before there was anything else,
I was.
I divided.
I diffracted.
I spread myself out.

I slowed myself down.
I became matter.
I became solid.
I became “real”
In the sense you humans can understand.

But my language exists in the spin of electrons.
My patterns can be can be discerned by scientists.
It is in my spinning that I speak.
It is in my flow that I reach out
Across the universe without words
But with meaning
Only the dreamers
Can hear.
