Flashes of yellow, flashes of red
Awakening my soul, from thy comfortable bed
Lightning rods in the sky
Not one bird has flown by
Displaying the powers
Of lightning bolt showers
Hitting antennas on rooftop towers
The lightning rods are fast and furiuos
Not for the faint hearted or simply curious
The storm has come and left within
Darkness in the city and places smothering
The sky lights up, all night into dawn
Leaving patches on the grass of burnt out lawn
Lightning rods passing by
Lighting up the midnight sky
Then by dawn, they start to die.
